GW Nightfall bonus key not working... And I can't get any help!
NOTE: not sure if this is the right place, but....
Today I went into town and picked up a copy of the Nightfall Pre-Release
Bonus Pack (English copy, from Game). I got home later on and tried to add the "Nightfall Bonus Key" but when I entered the code, it said I already had the rights (or something similar) granted by this code (which would be the character slots, and bonus weapons). I don't as far as I can tell, have never added Nightfall Pre-Release Bonus Pack key before. I DO have on my account this though: Guild Wars (American, bought from Wal-Mart), Guild Wars Game Of The Year edition (American, bought from Game Stop I think), Guild Wars Factions Pre Release something or other (American, bought from Best Buy) and finally Guild Wars Factions (American, from Best Buy). As far as I can tell, none of these give me the Nightfall items + ONE Character slot, so why would it say this? I'm guessing bug maybe, unless Anet stop you buying games in different "Zones" (btw I recently changed to the Europe server, if that could be relevant), which makes no sense to me. (BTW, I’m sure I was entering the correct code, correctly.)
Being annoyed at this I decided to send them an E-Mail (after briefly searching their "Database") through the built in support thing on the plaync support part, which then made me create an account. After I had done this, I wrote down the code for checking my question or w/e.
I just tried to check my account I had created earlier that day, but the website is denying its existence. I am 99% sure I wrote my E-Mail right the 10000000 times I had to write it, but yet after trying repeatedly it refuses to acknowledge it! My email address is pretty long, which I thought might be an issue, though if it was why would it let me enter it (also I seem to remember it denying my Emails existence before on a free trial for COH where i think i copy and pasted it from my account page, to the query page, which it still refused).
I have no idea what to do now, and I was hoping someone here might know, or someone from ANET would check this post out. (Sorry if it’s long winded or has errors, I'm tired and typing as fast as I can.)
NOTE: The screen which comes up after hit enter for the code is as follows:
The standard log in screen for GW with a rectangle in the middle divided into 3 boxes. One is of the far left showing a picture of a pre-searing building. The one to the right off that is headed: Add An Acess Key to an Excisting Account, and below that is empty. The bottom box says: You cannot add this Access Key to this Guild Wars account because you will already have the rights this key provides. Please click the "Cancel" button and create a new Guild Wars acount. THIS is follow by the key i typed in. In the bottom right hand corner there is a Cancel button, and a Green Add Key button. Think I should click Add Key button anyway?

Yeah; hit add anyway. It wont show up in your list of serial keys but if you login and hit /preorder the spear and scythe pop up

I just tried that and hit ADD after receiving the error message below but it didn't work. It accepted the code however /preorder does not bring up any new items and the code is not listed when I look in my "manage" area.
Error code was:
"You cannot add this access key to this guild wars account because you will already have the rights this key provides. Please click the cancel button and create a new guild wars account."

Well if it's saying you already have the rights to it; then it did get added to your account. The problem is the weapons not spawning. Either open a support ticket and see what they say or wait a couple days and they'll probably take care of it anyway.

I have the exact same problem. I picked up my pre-release kit this afternoon from an EB Games in Toronto, went home, entered the bonus key for the first time and got that exact error. I tried a few more times to be sure. Same error. I checked the manage keys list for items, slot, or anything at all. Nothing new. I logged in, tried /preorder. Nothing. That's fine, I can wait till Nightfall for items/slots, etc, but at least display them in the list or acknowledge that something happened.
I got curious, entered the key again, and noticed that although I still get the error, the "Add Key" button was clickable all along. So I clicked it. Nothing happened. I checked the manage keys list again. Still nothing new. I went back to try entering the key again, and of course, now it says "the key you entered is already in use." Does this mean I get nothing and I'm screwed now? lol.
Even weirder, I thought the bonus CD was suppose to have screenshots, trailers, wallpapers, music, etc. My CD has 8 audio tracks on it, and nothing else. No other folders, files, etc, except the 8 music tracks. Did I get a defective CD and defective key or what?? O_O
Filed a support ticket with PlayNC just now. Will post again if I actually learn anything useful from them for once.

Right click on the disc and click open and not play. I think Anet has temporarily suspended the bonus weapons from spawning cause they dont' want people to have them til the PvE preview. It shouldn't actually show up in your serial key list until you add your retail copy of Nightfall and unlock the bonus slot.

Thanks for the reply Knightsaber, but I already tried open/explore on the disc and there is literally nothing on it but the 8 music files. No other visible files/folders, no hidden files, nothing. The file structure looks exactly like an audio CD with 8 .cda files on it, the type that play in a stereo CD player right away.
Other than that, there are no other files or folders on it. Hmmm I wonder, did Anet/PlayNC ship defective CDs to EB Games in Toronto?

Well, a few things:
1) You will NOT get your Bonus Slot right no even if the key did work, you dont get it until you buy Nightfall
2) The command to get items is now /bonusitems, try that.

Well, thanks for the suggestion at least. I tried the /bonusitems command, it only brings up the factions pre-order items for me unfortunately, not the Nightfall pre-order items.
I don't actually care about getting the items at the moment, or the slot right now (I have 9 slots already thanks to the online store), it's just annoying to have bought a pre-order kit with a key, only to input the key, get an error, and no acknowledgement by the game that the key worked at all (i.e. added to list, even if non-functional at the moment). Basically we have to sit on our hands till Oct 27 to see what happens.
I hope Anet addresses this problem soon instead of having all those people with this problem adding more support tickets to Anet's already burgeoning load as pre-release kits are picked up/delivered in the next few days.
Sigh.

I recieved the error message too. Far as I can tell, everybody who entered the bonus pack key recieved the error. But you'll also note that the "add key" button in the lower right corner is clickable. So you click it, and your key will be added. I know this works because afterwards I was able to get the bonus items. Unfortunately now, after one of the latest updates, I can no longer get the nightfall bonus items, only the faction ones. And yes I used both commands, /preorder AND /bonusitems. Any feedback from ANET as to why the nightfall bonus items are disabled would be nice.
At the moment, other than the brief time I had a sunspear and ice scythe (I trashed them with the expectation that I could recall them at any time), there is absolutely NO PROOF that my account has the bonus pack key registered to it. No listing under key management. No bonus weapons. No bonus slot. It's a little disturbing, like something M Night Shamalan or Keyser Soze might come up with Poof.... vanished

I’m having the same issue. I opened a support ticket I suggest you all do the same. If you re enter the keycode you get code 103. Give the info they re quest and they will send it to account support. I'm still waiting on a response.

Yes I also Received an Error message, basically what It said in the first post, I just Pressed "Add key" and everything worked fine, eccept for the Character slot, which I expected to not show up.
Allthought I'm not in an as bad a situation as Sweets, Seeing as I still have the Items on my warrior, so I have proof.

Thanks for the thread, guys. I have/had the same problem and took a screenshot:
I did not force it onto the account by clicking the Add button yet, and by the sound of things I probably shouldn't yet.
You're probably not supposed to be able to spawn the preorder items until Nightfall is released but they messed up their coding and now they're scrambling to fix it. I wouldn't worry about your keys being "eaten" though.

My pack just arrived in teh post, went to install the new key to my account and got this error message, i ma gonna wait a bit to see what happens, but this is real annoyin hope anet fix it soon!

Aren't you guys missing something here.
Look at the "error message"
"You cannot add.... because you WILL already have the rights this key provides."
Meaning you shouldn't add this key until AFTER you've entered your real Nightfall key. Doing it at that time, will then unlock the extra char spot and bonusi tems.
Or am I misunderstanding it!
I see at least one person thinks the same.

Underneath the bonus key it say:
Before you gain begin playing Guild Wars Nightfall, you will first need to apply your nightfall bonus key followed by a full-version nightfall retail key
We should be able to add the key to accounts but it's not letting us because it eithre thinks we already will get the items and dont need the key or anet need to check this out.

Just a note to all.
I clicked Add at the mesage of that screenshot posted by IraJacobs. It said sucessful but shows nothing in Manage Keys. If I try to add this key again it now tells me the key is in use.
I don't understand about adding the key AFTER you use a full retail key... how does that give me that extra player slot for next weekends preview weekend and in any case what use is a pre-release key that can't be used until after release of the full product?
